The Question of Maya - A Poem for the Shakti Sadhaka
The Question of Maya
~ A Poem for the Shakti Sadhaka
=================
O Maa, if I was born from Thee,
Why cast me into this dream-bound sea?
Why cloak my Self in veils so wide,
And then expect I walk with pride?
You made me of stardust and flame,
Then whispered not my ancient name.
Why build this net of joys and fears,
Where each step births a trail of tears?
I searched the stars, I searched within,
But found no start, no end, no skin.
Only echoes of some song once sung,
In lifetimes past when I was young.
Yet still, O Maa, I cry Your name,
Though nothing in me stays the same.
You melt me down, then forge anew,
A different mask, but always You.
Why bind my feet with karma’s thread?
Why fill my nights with dreams of dread?
Then place a lamp of hope so small,
Inside the cage, behind the wall?
You smile through pain, through death, through strife,
And say, “My child, this too is life.”
No shadow forms but from My grace,
No terror walks without My face.
You hid the truth and tossed the key,
To make me burn and then be free.
You taught through silence, storm and shame,
That all I lose returns the same.
So now I walk not to arrive,
But dance with You, awake, alive.
Each veil I drop, I hear You say- “You're not lost child,
you're on your way.”
