The absence of "I"

True spirituality begins the moment the "I" disappears—when the self dissolve into something far greater.

"I" refers to the ego—the identity and name you’ve been given in this world. It’s not about rejecting it, but about not identifying with it. It's about being true to it, like an actor who knows he's playing a role. The actor doesn't leave the role, but he realizes it’s just a role. Likewise, one should realize it—not sacrifice it.

We all get so engrossed in our roles that we forget who we truly are. We only identify ourselves as the Sthula Sharira (physical body) and become too attached to everything.

Personally, I never thought I would speak about the dissolution of the "I," because I had been the epitome of attachment. I took things personally—even those that weren’t meant for me.

Gurudev once said that he offers not only the bad experiences but also all the good to Maa Adya. There’s no “I” there.

Whatever praise I receive is hers. Whatever insult I receive is hers. It’s never about me. Nothing happens to me that isn't already destined. Things become a lot simpler when you stop attaching yourself to everything—when you stop seeing the world from an “I”-centric lens and begin to observe as a witness.

If I can go to my Ishta during my failures and pour my heart out, then surely I can also go and offer my achievements to him.

There’s neither pride nor shame in the absence of "I"—only surrender. When you know it's all the deity, nothing is truly yours.

And when there is no “I,” you become a witness to your own thoughts, to everything. You still play the role, but you don’t get attached. You stay in touch with the Sukshma Sharira (subtle body). You start to see things more clearly and stop acting on emotional impulse.

Only intuition can be relied upon.

When you let Dharma guide you, the Karana Sharira (causal body) starts to take charge.

And that is when the deity begins to act through you, live through you, and experience the world through you.
