Sword of the Mother
I stood where the world ends - no name, no face, no hope to hold
She stood with a sword of silence, and eyes like midnight gold.
She asked me,
`child, what do you fear?’
I searched my bones for answers.
But the body was already ash,
And the ego - a fading dancer.
I said,
I feared pain, but it taught me to feel.
I feared loss, but it showed me what’s real.
I feared death, but it knelt before me.
Now i only fear.. not remembering thee.’
She laughed like the cracking of time.
`then remember, my fire-born son - the blade is not to wound you.
It is to reveal the true you.’
Then she raised the sword and i did not flinch.
For i was already gone.
And what remained..
was her alone
