Spiritual and Physical Lust
We have all heard the story of how Mahadeva burned Kamadeva to ashes, but have you ever wondered why Kamadeva was even allowed to roam around in the first place?
Shiva, being the Trikaladarshi, would have already known that Kamadeva was going to try to disturb his deep meditation.
Today, Kama has been demonized to the point that people are scared to even acknowledge the desires of their own blood. Shiva, by allowing Kamadeva to exist physically for a certain period of time, shows us that we too must accept and live through our physical lust for a certain period in our own lives.
This physical lust is not just about sexual union; it is any deep urge within you that relates to your physical existence. It could be the lust to make money, to gain fame, or to attain high status.
Once fully embraced, sadhana and the deity will slowly transform this. Bhairava will convert your physical lust into spiritual lust.
It is this spiritual lust and the urge to experience higher states of bliss and oneness with the deity that allow us to be in a state of Moksha while still living in the physical body.
It is physical lust that allows you to fulfill the desires of your blood and gives you opportunities to clear the Rnanubandhanas, while it is spiritual lust that grants Moksha to the bloodline itself. But the way to reach spiritual lust is to first exhaust all the physical lust within you by living it.
